Customers Reviews 2010-03-18 Good, not quite perfect. I bought this case because it was very inexpensive and I had heard great things about Otterbox. I wanted a soft case, thinking that it would protect far better than a full hardshell case.
I got the Impact in and put it on my phone, as well as the accompanying screen protector. The screen protector went on without issue, just a couple bubbles I was too lazy to try to work out (no fault of the product). The case went on very snug. The first time...
I have had to remove this case on about a half dozen occasions in a month, and I'm very gentle with it every time, but the more I've taken it off, the looser the silicone has become around the phone.
I would say that this is a WONDERFUL case if you need something short-notice or on the cheap--it protects very very well. It is not the most durable of products in the long term, due to being silicone, and it sticks in your pocket like a mad man (it also picks up dust and dirt better than a Hoover).
I give it 4 stars; the fifth star is out of reach only because of the stretching issue, otherwise the case is as good as it can be. I'm looking at the Commuter for a replacement case, as it doesn't appear to have any of the problems I have mentioned. | 2010-03-16 Covers sensor After a few months use, I noticed that whenever I would hold the phone to my ear it stopped disabling the screen. As a result I was constantly putting people on hold by mistake. I finally realized that the case had stretched just enough to cover the proximity sensor. Too bad because I really liked this case. Now I don't use it at all. | 2010-03-16 Nice for the price I had recently dropped my iphone and receive a nice spiderweb crack across the face. It was not a cheap fix! I found the Otterbox Impact online and for the minimal price, it has been well worth it. It protects my phone at the corners where it seems to land everytime it's dropped. The only draw back I miss is a beltclip and there maybe one available for this softcase protector. But I would definately purchase again and recommend it to anyone. | 2010-03-15 Solid case, but some drawbacks Pros -
Fairly priced (even though it is just a hunk of molded rubber)
Good quality
Protects the phone from scratches and drops
If you put it into your shirt pocket and bend over the rubber catches so it
doesn't fall out
Covers up buttons that most other cases leave available (but still allows you to use)
Cons -
The screen protector is a pain in the you know where to put on without bubbles
Nitpicky, but worth noting: the opposite of the above is true. While the rubber
makes it so it doesn't fall out of your pocket, it also makes it so it doesn't
slide into your pocket as easily
The rubber will catch more than its fair share of dirt in your pocket
Overall - It's a good case for the money and I'd probably get it again. The only real drawback is putting on the plastic cover effectively without bubbles.
| 2010-03-14 Nice Case for the money I suspect, like many other iPhone users, I have several cases for my phone. I've found this one gives a reasonable amount of protection and comes with a nice screen film. I stopped using my Defender Case due to the echo issue and have really come to like the smaller profile of this case over the larger Defender case.I like the smooth feel to the case. It's "grippy" enough not to be slippery so it can be slid in and out of jean pockets easily. I do wish however that it came with a headphone port plug. This is where one of the moisture sensors is located so it's important to keep that port protected. Get a drop of water or sweat in that port and the sensor turns red meaning your phone is then out of warranty. I think I'm going to try the Commuter case next. |

Fire Protection for your iPhone: New Case by OtterBoxDo you want your beloved iPhone truly protected against…anything? I think that I’ve found a great solution for you. There is case called OtterBox Armor Series. It is stronger that Arnold Schwarzenegger, stronger that Bin Laden, even stronger than Robo-cop.
The features of the Armor Series:
- Fits 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB iPhones
- comes in yellow or black Waterproof
- dustproof
- dirtproof
- sandproof
- drop-proof
- Screen protected by a PATENTED thin membrane which remains fully functional through the case
- Two easy open compound latches secure the case
- iPhone is cradled by impact absorbing rubber on all sides
- External phone jack maintains the microphone and click button functionality of the Apple headphones or usable with any style headphones with a standard mini stereo plug (1/8″)
- Weight (Case Only): 4.5oz
- Dimensions: 5.8 x 3.2 x 1
At first sight the case seems a little too bulky, but when you read the protection features you get to understand what this bulk is caused by. The case is for those who want to speak over their iPhone in the open space. Water, sand, dust is no longer a problem. Fighting for Nepal’s liberty? Don’t forget to cover your iPhone with Armor Series case.
Getting the phone into the case is a piece of cake. You simply slide it into the case which opens like a clamshell and fasten the latches back into their place. The major disadvantage of the construction is that you can talk via headphones only.
The Verdict
Armor Series is the top model in the product line of OtterBox. It is made for those who need the maximum protection for their phone and want to use in the “extremest” conditions imaginable.
The price of the device is $69.95. That is not cheap, but you really get the protections you pay for. If you need that kind of 110% protection the case won’t be a sheer waste of money. To my mind no case is able to compete with Armor Series in the degree of phone protection.
