PR campaign to promote the first phone undertaking of the company Apple – iPhone – has started long before it was officially launched. iPhone can be easily called the record holder according to the number of rumors and various news in the Internet.

General Data

iPhone which I will call as a smartphone (its functionality isn’t enough to call the device a communicator, but still more than a phone) doesn’t need special introduction. It is quite known to anybody who is interested in:

Mobile domain
Visit the Internet at least once a week

The first rumors that Apple is working on its own phone leaked over the Internet in September 2005. Although, knowing marketing campaigns of Apple, one can assume that such information had been spread deliberately.

The rumor gradually accumulated information, the creepy stories were heated by intriguing statements by Apple representatives and new spy info. The mass media were full of contradictory information about a 12th icon which turned out to be a shortcut to launch YouTube.

The official debut of Apple iPhone took part June 29, 2007. At the moment the exclusive right to sell the device has only one company – the American operator AT&T. Despite the link with the only operator, the Chinese hackers have already found a key to iPhone and sell it twofold in Hong Kong.

Among the competitors of iPhone are HTC Touch, Sony Ericsson W960i. But at the same time these devices are quite different and to draw parallels between them would be irrelevant. Apple iPhone is the first smartphone that works under the operation system OS X which at the moments has no analogues.

At the moment three versions of iPhone are available – 4, 8 and 18 Gb.

Appearance

Apple iPhone has classic monolithic design, though its size is slightly bigger than that of an average phone. The design of the device doesn’t allow sharp edges and corners – all of them are curved. As the material for the body chrome polycarbonate (the facial part) and aluminum are used. With all its durability the device has low weight (135 g) in comparison to its dimensions (115×61x11.6 mm)

I’m sure you have seen this screen more than once. Now we are going to correct this mistake.

Launch WinSCP with the phone where YouTube doesn’t work. Go to the folder /var/root/Library/Lockdown and copy the files data_ark.plist, device_private_key.pem, and device_public_key.pem.

I saved them in the folder

Disconnect iPhone and connect a phone where YouTube works. Go to the folder /var/root/Library/Lockdown and copy the files data_ark.plist, device_private_key.pem,and device_public_key.pem.

Save them in the folder

Copy the files you saved from a phone where YouTube works to the phone where it doesn’t work.

Select “Yes to All” for rewriting the existing files.

Close WinSCP and restart your iPhone

When I was doing this I didn’t want to use this function and deactivated YouTube, I just rewrote the files that I initially saved from my iPhone. Now I get the following screen.

In fact if you press OK, you still get access to video. I’m planning to restore my iPhone to delete the bug.

Touchpad Pro - super-app for managing PC from iPhone

Touchpar Pro is an incredibly useful, functional and cool application. It allows you to control our PC through iPhone – manage video- and audio-players, print, surf the Internet, manage presentations etc. It doesn’t matter what OS is installed on your PC - MacOS or Windows. In order to make all this work you have to install VNC Server on the controlled computer.

If you have Windows:

Download TightVNC — http://www.tightvnc.com and install it.
Launch VNC Server
Set the password to secure your connection to the server
Find out IP address of your computer (bubble help with an icon with the letter “V” in tray)

If you have MacOS:

MasOS already had pre-installed VNC - Screen Sharing or Apple Remote Desktop (on older versions of the OS). Go to System Preferences / Sharing
Turn on Screen Sharing or Apple Remote Desktop, you’ll see a pop-up window with your IP address. Remember it.
Turn on VNC settings and fill in the password

Installing Touchpad Pro:

Open Installer on your iPhone
If there is no reposition J Sherwani, add in the sources a new reposition J Sherwani: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~jsherwan/iphone/. Refresh Sources.
Search for Touchpad Proв in the category Utilities and install it. The latest version available at the moment – 2.0

Setting Touchpad Pro:

Click on the icon “+” in the right upper corner of the screen
Enter any name like “homepc”
Enter IP address (which you have remembered when setting VNC Server). You can also enter the name of the host if you know it instead of IP address.
Enter the password
Click “save”

To connect with the PC click on the name of the profile which you entered while setting Touchpad Pro (“homepc”). If you have dome everything correctly, you will connect to the PC.

In order to manage the computer you will need so-called hot-keys:

Mouse click = fast screen click
Right click = double screen click
Scrolling = vertical dash with 2 fingers on the screen
Zoom = stretching on the screen with 2 fingers
Text entry = press keyboard icon

To control Media Player Classic and WinAmp press the button Remote Control

iPhone Apps: AppFlow & XLauncher

AppFlow

AppFlow allows to organize and browse all the installed applications in CoverFlow style (like in iTunes). The application are sorted in the alphabetical order. Thus you get a pleasant user-friendly interface with smooth scrolling. If you want to launch an application simply stop on the icon and press the button twice. That’s it. Works on the version 1.1.1 and 1.1.3

Installing AppFlow:

Open Installer on your iPhone
If there is no Ste Packaging entry in the Source list then add it: http://repo.smxy.org/iphone-apps/. Update Sources by pressing Refresh button.
Find AppFlow in the category System and install

The latest version available at the moment is 0.01.

XLaunch

XLaunch allows iPhone users to organize and browse all the installed applications in the alphabetic order. Moreover, applications are shown in sections with the first letter of the name in the headline. But that is not all. If you install the app AppFlow the tandem will use the functions of both the applications: In the vertical position you will see the list of applications in the alphabetic order (XLaunch) and if you rotate iPhone in the horizontal position – the listing will be shown in the CoverFlow tune line in iTunes (AppFlow). Cool, isn’t it?

Installing XLaunch:

Install manually via SSH in the Applications folder of the phone
Reload the phone, allow it to be installed and launch the application

The latest version available at the moment – 0.31-113. It has been designed for iPhone version 1.1.3 but it also launches on 1.1.1 (though you may experience problems).
