TechSmith is coming up with Camtasia Studio 5.1, an update that packages your screen recordings as MV4 files for playback on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Owners of Apple’s media players can use it easily now.
Camtasia Studio 5.1 has more extensive tools and settings with tips, video tutorials, and preset options to guide new users through the process of creating screencasts from start to end.

You can record any PC and PowerPoint screen action with or without sound, adding little gems like cursor highlighting, resizing apps within the recorder, and drawing on the screen. Audio and video clips are compiled, trimmed, and bedecked with visual effects in a production studio.

Well-rounded production settings rely on presets and manual customizations, letting users quickly format their video for common outputs like iPod and blog uploading in addition to hardcore audio and video configuration.

Camtasia Studio includes a standalone audio editor and the CD MenuMaker. Also there are included wizards, tips, tutorials, and templates for easy navigating.

Users will find a drop-down for a third audio track, and two new callouts have joined the library. Camtasia Theater can now wrap FLV and Express Show files into a snazzy presentation that users can navigate on their own, instead of just SWF files.Licensed users of Camtasia Studio 5 will receive the updates for free. Everyone else can download the 30-day trial

ClearBoost Case: Making Downloads for iPhone Faster?

iphone_clearboost_case.jpg

As a matter of fact a great number of so-called “brainy” iPhone accessories can be used only for aesthetic purposes. Only few of them have really useful application. The device I’m going to describe below is one of them.

Griffin Technology has come up with ClearBoost case. Today seems to be the case-day. I’m reviewing though different but in fact two types of the same accessory – iPhone cases.

So ClearBoost case is aimed at two major purposes

  1. Protecting your iPhone from external dangers
  2. Boosting the device’s cellular signal

Griffin Technology is specializing in the creation of protective cases for iPhone and ClearBoost case is the first devices that somehow deviates from the course.

When you first see the case you might think that it is just an ordinary one (perhaps except for a small nub that protrudes from the top of the case). But this nub is responsible for making the cellular connection better. In fact it doesn’t give a significant improvement of the signal but you will see that a number of additional signal bars will appear on the screen.

If you wonder how it works, it’s simple – ClearBoost adds an antennae booster to your iPhone. It catches additional signal and send it to the phone via the inbuilt antennae.

As for the protection of the device, Griffin Technology ClearBoost is a strong polycarbonate case. The case is able to protect your phone from scratches and other defects that affect the aesthetic condition of it. Although the device doesn’t give incredible boost in the signal, it definitely improves it. The cost of the case is $29.99 and it seems a reasonable deal, as the device is a great case besides being an antennae booster.

3G iPhone Software & Hardware: Top 10 Most and Least Probable Features

3g_iphone.jpgWith the new iPhone coming in a few weeks the folk start speculating about what it should have and what it should not.

I’ve tried to study the case intently and find out as many things as possible using various sources. A few days ago I wrote an article on what features should the new iPhone possess. The entry showed my personal opinion. This time I’ve come up with the list of features you would like to see in the new device.

So, here you are, the list of features the new iPhone should have. Deliberately I split the list into 2 sections: the serious and the funny one. The first section deals with features that are likely to appear on the iPhone (because they are, in fact, the reason why the new version is released). The second section is the collection of jokes and humorous features.

Probable features:

1) The ability to install any native app no matter whether Apple approves of it or not

2) The ability to designate a portion of its storage as a Universal Mass-Storage Device, so it shows up as a standard hard drive on any computer it is plugged into.

3) Full unhindered file system access to the phone.

4) Integrated VoIP support, automatically receiving calls over the WiFi connection when available, so that acceptable phone call audio quality and reliability is reached

5) MMS and custom ringtones? Like any $50 Nokia does

6) Flash support; video capture capabilities; spellcheck; file browser (search); voice recognition (quick dial)

7) Video recording option

8) Cut&Paste

9) SD card slot

10) Back button, removable battery, RDS Radio

Less probable features:

1) Windshield wipers, to get rid of all the finger prints

2) It should print money, and allow for the baking of cakes within

3) A toaster, and built-in dlp projector

4) Stun gun attachment

5) No Apple logo

6) Back button, removable battery, RDS Radio

7) A free donkey with every purchase

8) An application called “The Picard.” When you take a picture of a woman, all of her clothes fall off.

9) 320GB of storage

10) Take your dog for a walk, do your taxes, and your wife
