10 Reasons To HATE 3G iPhone

People all over the world have been anticipating the iPhone 3G since the first user tried to download a web page on slow EDGE network.

10 Reasons To HATE 3G iPhone But even considering the touchscreen interface, the bright display, the push-synching of calendar, tasks, email, contacts and photos from Apple’s MobileMe services, and quite relative pleasures of 3G network speed, Apple’s product fails to meet consumers’ expectations.

So here are 10 reasons to HATE iPhone:

1) No upgrade to the camera.

While many other phones have up to 5 megapixel cams, lens-based autofocus, optical zoom and flash, the iPhone 3G camera remains the same first-gen, still has 2 megapixels, low-light shooting problem, still no flash, no video recording.

2) No Adobe Flash support.

Apple claims that Flash would be very slow on the iPhone, but the probable reason is that Apple wants to promote Sproutcore, its web app development technology.

3) No instant messaging.

Rather than transmitting instant messages via the net, the iPhone does it by SMS, in spite of iChat, an instant messaging software for Mac. SMS is considered the most expensive service, with only 165 characters long for each message at 20c per message. To sum up, that results in 1.3 million dollars for a gigabyte of SMSes.

4) Impractical for international travel.

If someone sends you several megabytes of photos via email, that’s how much the iPhone will download. If you’re not far from your home with unlimited data plan, that’s ok. But if abroad, you will have to pay extra $20 per megabyte.

5) Not compatible with Bluetooth headphones or car kits.

iPhone will work only with Apple’s Bluetooth headset or with similar units of other companies.

6) Non user-replaceable battery.

Apple seems to trick people and make them buy a new iPhone after battery dies. So the choice is to get the old iPhone battery fixed for $105.95, or to pay $199.00 for another one.

7) No cut and paste.

8) No MMS.

If you would like to send a nice photo from your iPhone, you’d better hope that the recipient has email on his phone, because it is the only way to send it. Yes, iPhone 3G lacks MMS, picture/video SMSes.

9) No turn-by-turn navigation. Apple integrated a GPS satellite navigation receiver, but refused to offer turn-by-turn voiced navigation.

10) Stunning hypocrisy.

Phil Schiller, Apple marketing chief, laughed at Blackberry’s complexity of its email service, emphasizing that the messages pass a RIM messaging server before they are sent out to the phone, and all this requires some extra payment.

And now Apple introduces MobileMe, which gets your email straight through an Apple messaging server, with $99 per year extra. That’s a shame!

iPhone Social Network Shows Location And Music Playing

TuneWiki’s iLyricPlayer shows lyrics on YouTube videos or other audio sources for creating an iPhone karaoke player, so you can perform karaoke by yourself in any place. Not bad, but TuneWiki’s new GPS feature is really worth consideration.
iPhone Social Network Shows Location And Music PlayingThe new GPS feature enables you to see the locations of other TuneWiki users on a map, and what they’re listening to. With a tap of the screen, you may listen in on their playing at the moment songs. iLyricPlayer gets songs from imeem, YouTube and other sources.

It currently works only on jailbroken iPhones. However, it has a nice side effect: TuneWiki joins members from various cell networks.

Meet New iPhone 3G, At Last!

Yes, we got GPS, 3G, and lower prices, but some highly anticipated iPhone rumors, such as additional iPhone models or videoconferencing, didn’t get the realization.

Meet New iPhone 3G, At Last! The $199 price tag for the 8GB version and $299 for the 16GB model get people excited. Considering the iPhone 3G features, the price is reasonable and it will get its lines after July 11, when it gets on sale.

AT&T announced that the data plan fee of $30 per month is required for the iPhone 3G, that is $10 more than the EDGE-only plan. And even if you’re a current subscriber, you’ll need to resign a 2-year contract with AT&T.

The iPhone 3G is only about 0.02 inches thicker than the Edge-only model, and the new model is nearly 0.1 ounce lighter than the old model.

You’ll be able to browse and get access to data while on a voice call, even not in Wi-Fi range. The new 3G iPhone will have two times quicker connection over HSDPA network than over the old EDGE. It’s really fast enough for video and music, but yet there’s no word on the opportunity to download videos, songs or podcasts from iTunes. A future firmware upgrade can make it possible.

The battery life is promised to be 5 hours of talk time, 7 hours of video and 24 hours of music. But as a rule it is often less, we’ll see.

With announced GPS, live tracking of your position looks great on the iPhone. Additionally, Loopt has announced a GPS social-networking app to indicate your nearest friends. Finally, the iPhone switches GPS off automatically when not in use.

Meet New iPhone 3G, At Last! Unfortunately, the rumors on videoconferencing didn’t come true: no front cam for video iChat. Video syncing with iTunes and wireless music wasn’t confirmed as well. And no 32GB model or higher, no original EDGE-only iPhones, and only in black and white flavors.

Considering service side, the upcoming MobileMe will now get over-the-air syncing of Address Book contacts, e-mail and photos, events from iCal, and now Outlook Windows users are on the list. MobileMe is still $99 per year, not bad considering the doubled 20GB of online storage compared to the old .Mac.
