They say that Apple has ordered 10 Million 3G iPhones. To tell you the truth, I wouldn’t believe the source, but it is, of course, not the real point of this particular entry.

It is a common knowledge that Apple is heading for a 3G iPhone and it is also widely knows that this phone is very soon to arrive. It is not quite obvious when, but that it will is not under doubt. But yet there is at least one question. Which one?

Are people going to upgrade their current iPhones to new ones?

In fact, there are still certain areas where 3G support is disabled. It is obvious that to add 3G support is not enough for a great number of people to make them motivated to buy a new device. Of course, AT&T is doing its best to expand the 3G network support all over the country and it is now just a matter of time when the whole country is covered, but at the moment it is only available in a few selected markets in the USA.

I am sure that Apple is quite aware of the fact and the only things I would like to know is whether there is something else in the gadget that will attract the customers?

They say that Apple might apply OLED technology to the display thus make the phone thinner. But again, can this increase the motivation of the potential owners? To tell you the truth, I’m not motivated to buy a new iPhone based on the rumor which is here now. There’s a rumor that the new iPhone will have an additional camera, but for me that doesn’t heat up the demand at all. Of course, maybe after purchasing the device and trying this new feature I will change my mind, but right now I find it useless.

Are there any real advantages of 3G network? You know, if I find out that the speed is 10 times faster then the current Edge speed, I might consider a possibility of acquiring the new iPhone. But at the same time what I can say is that the idea of a thinner device really appalls me.

Another question that puzzled my mind is whether Apple is really planning to sell another 10 million iPhones with so many of the devices having been just sold. It seems to me that just about each third person now has an iPhone. Do they really think that these 1/3 of the people will want to upgrade their devices right after the purchase or those 2/3 will definitely want to buy an iPhone? To my mind the demand on iPhone cannot be that high!

And what do YOU think about all that?
