Just one warning – that is not for those who got on a diet, otherwise carrying one of these around can turn to a slow torture. But if you don’t mind this, cute straps are a nice way to dress up your cellphone, and not only electronics – they can be attached to a keychain.

10 Reasons To HATE 3G iPhone

People all over the world have been anticipating the iPhone 3G since the first user tried to download a web page on slow EDGE network.

apple_iphone3g_20080609.jpg But even considering the touchscreen interface, the bright display, the push-synching of calendar, tasks, email, contacts and photos from Apple’s MobileMe services, and quite relative pleasures of 3G network speed, Apple’s product fails to meet consumers’ expectations.

So here are 10 reasons to HATE iPhone:

1) No upgrade to the camera.

While many other phones have up to 5 megapixel cams, lens-based autofocus, optical zoom and flash, the iPhone 3G camera remains the same first-gen, still has 2 megapixels, low-light shooting problem, still no flash, no video recording.

2) No Adobe Flash support.

Apple claims that Flash would be very slow on the iPhone, but the probable reason is that Apple wants to promote Sproutcore, its web app development technology.

3) No instant messaging.

Rather than transmitting instant messages via the net, the iPhone does it by SMS, in spite of iChat, an instant messaging software for Mac. SMS is considered the most expensive service, with only 165 characters long for each message at 20c per message. To sum up, that results in 1.3 million dollars for a gigabyte of SMSes.

4) Impractical for international travel.

If someone sends you several megabytes of photos via email, that’s how much the iPhone will download. If you’re not far from your home with unlimited data plan, that’s ok. But if abroad, you will have to pay extra $20 per megabyte.

5) Not compatible with Bluetooth headphones or car kits.

iPhone will work only with Apple’s Bluetooth headset or with similar units of other companies.

6) Non user-replaceable battery.

Apple seems to trick people and make them buy a new iPhone after battery dies. So the choice is to get the old iPhone battery fixed for $105.95, or to pay $199.00 for another one.

7) No cut and paste.

8) No MMS.

If you would like to send a nice photo from your iPhone, you’d better hope that the recipient has email on his phone, because it is the only way to send it. Yes, iPhone 3G lacks MMS, picture/video SMSes.

9) No turn-by-turn navigation. Apple integrated a GPS satellite navigation receiver, but refused to offer turn-by-turn voiced navigation.

10) Stunning hypocrisy.

Phil Schiller, Apple marketing chief, laughed at Blackberry’s complexity of its email service, emphasizing that the messages pass a RIM messaging server before they are sent out to the phone, and all this requires some extra payment.

And now Apple introduces MobileMe, which gets your email straight through an Apple messaging server, with $99 per year extra. That’s a shame!

Japanese Consumers Don’t Want To Buy 3G iPhone

Due to the Apple’s 3G iPhone launch in Japan next month, iSHARE, a famous Japan research company, has conducted a survey to find out the response on the potential selling capability of iPhone in Japan market. To my surprise, the survey results showed that nearly 91 percent of the users holding mobile phones don’t have any plan to buy the next gen famous iPhone in the nearest future.

iphone1.jpgThe survey was aimed at the consumers aging from 20 to 49, with mostly the male population having interest in iPhone. Besides, the survey tried to find out the reason why most Japanese consumers are not interested in getting iPhone, and one of the major reasons was because of unreplaceable battery pack that has caused much trouble since the first gen iPhone. So out of 402 respondents via the net, around 88 percent of them feedback that they feel inconvenience without a replaceable battery, which almost coincides with the 91 percent that are not planning to buy iPhone.

The survey took place in early June time when the actual retail price wasn’t known yet. That is not for sure whether there will appear more iPhone consumers when they get to know that the price will be half of the first generation iPhone. In any case, it will very much depend on how much subsidy the Japanese cellular network service provider Softbank intends to put together along with the subscription plan.

Adobe Planning Flash Player For iPhone

Adobe’s Flash video player that 3G iPhone lacks can still get on Apple’s phone soon, using the third-party apps program.

During Adobe’s conference call on Monday, the technical challenges for enabling Flash to work on the 3G iPhone were discussed. Good for us, but after all that technical work with Flash player for iPhone is done, Adobe will have to convincef.jpeg Apple to let Flash be onto the iPhone. Apple has been critical of Flash in the past, explaining that the mobile Flash version isn’t powerful enough to become friends with iPhone.

The easiest way out for Adobe is to create a standalone Flash player. To storm the market, Adobe will need to submit it for adding to the iPhone apps store. But that won’t be like Flash on a PC, where it is integrated into a Web browser.

Adobe may create its own Web browser with Flash software built in (like using Safari’s Webkit). But there’s no guarantee that Apple will admit a Safari competitor to the apps store.

So what is the future of Flash player for iPhone? There’s a brilliant career for the iPhone platform, and Adobe is missing out if Flash is not a part of it, Perhaps the Flash plugin on the Mac is not the most polished application, but some parts of the Web, like Hulu for instance, that rely on Flash, would be great to use on the iPhone.
