5 Tips To Save Your Phone After Dropping Into Water

Accidents happen.
If you’re ever in a situation where your phone is giving you problems because you got caught in the rain, or dropped it in the sink or toilet, here are 5 steps you can try:
1. Turn the device off and do not charge it - You want to keep the phone non-operational while it dries out.
2. Drip dry and shake off as much water as possible
3. Dismantle whatever you can - If you are able to remove the battery and cover, do so. The more you expose the better it will dry.
4. Cover your phone in a bowl of rice - Rice will help absorb moisture (at least it did for this Washington Post writer) like how it does in salt shakers.
5. Draw it away with a vacuum cleaner held over the affected areas for up to 20 minutes in each accessible area, having already removed the majority of liquids and moisture manually and dried all visible moisture by hand, so that none enters the vacuum cleaner.
This method is preferable to leaving it to dry naturally as it halts any oxidation from occurring deep inside, such as can result in functional issues later on. This is the fastest way (less than thirty minutes after your phone drowns, it can be completely dry and working, especially if you are able to also partly or fully disassemble it) to quickly get all the internal moisture out of the phone effectively and stop the internals from ‘rotting’ away.
Remember that the goal is to suck all the moisture and humidity out of the phone not to blow it even further in and create even more evil humidity deep inside.
All in all, the idea here is to get it as dry as as possible - in as quick a time as possible. You’d be surprised how many phones spring back to life once they are dried out. Personally i gave birth to 3 phones after they had taken a ‘bath’. I just dried them out, and they were just as good as new.
Note: Fans and hair dryers are not a good ideas as they tend to force moisture further into the small components deep inside the phone eventually causing corrosion.
Mobile Phones With 3G Technology Announcements
Times Online announced that the UK and German iPhone discounts should clear the market for 3G iPhones. European mobile operators overestimated the necessity for current iPhones and promised to clear excess inventory right before the 3G iPhone release.
It is known that Apple ordered Asian suppliers to produce 200,000 new 3G iPhones by the end of May, than rise to 2 million (500,000 a week) - in June, and new version of the iPhone will be totally different.
Presumed that flip version would enable the larger screen, and a sliding model will have a regular qwerty touchscreen keyboard.
Whether Times Online’s information is reliable is unknown. The inclusion of an built-in keyboards among smartphones was criticized when the iPhone was introduced. Apple will soon be launching Software Development Kit (SDK) for multi-touch OS X. To change something radically could be not a smart idea.
Telecom Italia is going to launch the iPhone in Italy in the next few weeks. The new model will be based on 3G (UMTS) technology. The 3G iPhone, can be available to any provider, but obviously TIM will get advantage for at least first months.
According to MacRumors here are some points for Italian retails:
- Introduction of UMTS capable 3G iPhones instead of current 2G version.
- No revenue sharing, but a higher price on the market.
- Support of various providers, but TIM will have the right to distribute the iPhone with advantage for some months.
3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards, tending to replace 2G standards. Cellular mobile telecommunications networks are being updated to 3G from 1999 to 2010. The introduction of 3G first took place in Japan, and there the convertion to 3G was already completed in 2006. As can be seen, the whole tech world is ready to use mobile phones with 3G technology.
Who Else Wants Great iPhone Trick Tips?
I can proudly state that I’m the luckiest ever owner of an iPhone. I’ve had it for quite a time already but I cannot still play to my heart’s content with this amazing gadget. Nevertheless with experience come cool tips and tricks that you learn. I’ve learned mine and now I want to share them with you.

- Tap once at the top of the display in the Internet mode and you will be immediately redirected to the top of the page you are browsing (instead of having to scroll your way to the top). This helps my save much time and finger effort.
- Set the font to the smaller size and get access to more data in the Internet window. This method has one great advantage: in case you want to click a link it will come up huge thus making it extremely easier to click.
- If you want to add a new bookmark you don’t have to enter the full address of the web-page. All you need to do is post the equivalent RSS address in the Apple’s RSS reader. Using RSS feeds you can quickly see if the site has been updated since your last visit (it is much faster than downloading the whole page and helps save traffic).
- If you write a lot using the iPhone (as I do) you can enjoy one peculiar trick I’ve found. If you write a word and it is underlined as misspelled but in fact is not, you cancel the correction 3 times and the word will be automatically added to the dictionary.
- I found a great use of the magnifying glass. When writing something you tap once and hold and the glass will pop up. With the glass on you can place the cursor wherever you want and continue editing the text.
- The icons can be dragged around (it cannot be made only on the home screen). In order to use the function go to iPod => More => Edit. Do whatever you like to the icon arrangement.
- There is an ultimate way to reset the device. In order to do that, hold the right button and the home front button for 6 seconds. To bring it back to life press the top button
- There is a feature that helps me avoid tons of email spam. I added a link to Yahoo mail in my Safari and now I can use “delete all” function to remove all the spam messages.
These are the tricks that I found out using iPhone. Did you learn any other tricks? Would you share them with me and with the audience?
3G iPhone Due Out Soon - O2 and T-Mobile Cut Prices
3G iPhone Due Out Soon - O2 and T-Mobile Cut Prices
With the forthcoming release of 3G iPhone the overwhelming majority of mobile operators with the contracts to sell iPhone are exposed to crucial losses on the stock which is likely to remain unsold. That;s why they have to find solutions out of such an unpleasant situation. What are these solutions?
For instance, the UK operator O2 and the German T-Mobile miscalculated the number of iPhones that could be sold in Europe and at the moment their warehouses are filled with the gadgets that in a matter of months will cost no more than $200.
Even Apple experts confirm that the losses of these companies will be significant.
Nevertheless the companies make their best to recoup the forthcoming losses and at the same time clear the shelves for the new iPhone.
Recently O2 has announced price cut on the iPhone. The company reduced more than a third of its initial price – from 269 pounds to 169 pounds. And a few weeks ago T-Mobile set even more generous sales – from 399 euro to 99 euro.
The French operator Orange will also have to cut the prices. The French sales of the gadget were predicted to be between 500 000 and 600 000, but the company only managed to sell about 330 000 iPhones.
The sale tempos have significantly fallen down and the European retailers find it difficult to clear their stock from the current version of IPhone.
As for the new device which is due out in the middle of June it is said to be completely different to the current version in appearance. They don’t exclude the possibility that the new device will have a regular qwerty keyboard instead of the fan-favorite touch-screen.
Another new tendency that 3G iPhone is likely to bring in is the refusal of the favoring policy towards a single operator in the given territory.
In fact the end goal of Apple is to create the best device ever and then to bring it to as many clients as possible.
Do you think that Apple will manage to do it eventually?
